100 blocks 100 days!

Happy Friday to you!  Are you joining in with the #100 blocks in 100 days challenge?

Above are my fabrics and since I have taken this photo I have found more text fabrics available in my stash.  So let the fun begin!  Starting tomorrow, I am so happy and thankful  join gnome angel  for hosting this fantabulous sew along.

I have started cutting my fabrics and I am labelling them and putting them in a container  ready for sewing.  I figure there will be a few days in the next 100 days that I will not have a lot of time so starting cutting and having them ready will be of a great help to reach my goal.

I have had this book for 3 years, the first I had all intention of joining in with the quilt along, didn’t happen. the second year I was gathering fabrics, and this year it is do it or you will never do it!  I love this text fabric above with I sew Too!

I have also been exploring different ideas for laying these blocks into a quilt.  I do no want to do a standard setting.  So I am contemplating different options.  I will do a blog post once a week with all of the previous weeks blocks so you can follow my progress.

I have recently been quilting up a storm.  I have been joining Angela Walters with her fmq challenge.  It has been so much fun watching everyones progress.  I have had my machine serviced this week so glad to have it home all ready to keep on stitching. I have to thank my mechanic for looking after her over the last couple of days.

I was very please to be able to quilt a couple of quilts for a couple of other people recently.  One was a brocade and the other is a quilt from Amanda Brandls bush gum blossoms range.  Here are a couple of photos of them.

So happy weekend to all and I would love to hear from you if you are joining with the 100 blocks in 100 days!

Also joining linking with Confessions of a Fabric Addict for Whoop Whoop its Friday! I’m Whooping for such great Quilty friends and some wonderful finishes.

Until the next weeks update have a great weekend.

Wendy Gontier.

Rainbow the blues away!

Yesterday I wrote about my scrap heap challenge, so today I will give you an update on how I am doing with this task. Where do I start, I have accumulated scraps in the past 6-9 months and haven’t really dealt with them like I normally do.  There are normally sorted after I finish a project into relevant boxes, either small scraps, small pieces fat quarter and then into larger yardage.  I always have 2.5″ scraps and charms but these have been depleted.

Well I have been cutting a lot of my old small fabrics into 2.5″ squares and into charms,  I have another box which is taking the smaller pieces which I will use, I have another box for fat quarters and smaller and they are being placed into likely matches for future projects.  Whilst I have been cutting the 2.5″ squares I have been able to make a couple for my new challenge to help motivate a friend.  Today’s colour is blue.  I am having so much fun with this.

Today’s 9 patch to rid the blues

An extra red to add to the patches for yesterday

Here are all of my blocks from today and yesterday

Below are some photos of the fabrics in the sorting and cutting process and then there is my latest fabric which has arrived.  It is Kona Solids and I have purchased this from Handmade by Emily

In regards to the Rainbow 9 patches to rid the blues, I will be posting the colours for each day on my Facebook page Wehago Designs click here to check it out.
So until next blog post take time to smell the roses, and enjoy life.  I will be quilting and creating and sorting my stash.
Keep smiling
